  CFLs 101

Amongst the smallest, easiest to install, brightest, longest lasting, and greenest CFLs on the market today...

The popularity of GREENLTE CFLs stems from their using only about a quarter of the energy of standard incandescent bulbs. They last longer, too, up to 15,000 hours, which reduces replacement costs. GREENLITE CFLs are available in a variety of wattages, shapes, colors, and sizes, and are both RoHS compliant and ENERGY STAR® qualified. The choice is clear. Insist on GREENLITE CFLs!

Why you should choose GREENLITE bulbs:

  •  Save money! Both on energy and replacement costs
  •  Bulbs last up to 10 times longer
  •  Instant on! GREENLITE bulbs are completely flicker free
  •  Varieties for every household and commercial application
  •  Dimmable and 3-way products exist
  •  Fit in common sockets and fixtures
  •  ENERGY STAR®/RoHs certified where applicable
  •  Different color temperature options to fit your needs
  •  Change your bulbs, and you can change the world!

Wattages, lumens, color temperature… it can all get a little bit confusing! Let us help you with “Find The Bulb For You

CFL stands for “Compact Fluorescent Lamp.” Compared with everyday long tubular fluorescent bulbs that you commonly see overhead in stores, schools and offices, these smaller CFL bulbs curl their compact tubes into spiral-like shapes that wind into screw-in bases for use in regular household sockets.

Due to an ever-growing public emphasis on saving energy, money and the environment, CFLs have become widely accepted alternatives to old-fashioned incandescent bulbs, because they:

  1. Operate on about 75% less energy than incandescent.
  2. Can last about 10 times longer than incandescent or more.
  3. Are available in so many specialty varieties that every socket in your home can use one. For example, CFLs are now available as dimmable, shatterproof, colored, 3-way, weatherproof, and glass-covered versions of different shapes and sizes. They are available in Soft White and enhanced Daylight varieties.

The very best CFLs, such as GREENLITE CFLs, are qualified by ENERGY STAR® for their efficiency and also pass strict European “RoHS” guidelines limiting levels of potentially hazardous substances in bulbs.
