Call them whatever you like... Twistys, Double Helix Shapes, Pigtails, Spirals, Ice Cream Cones... These are the most common names for the most common of Compact Fluorescent Lamps (Bulbs). The glass tube is uncovered, and the inside of the tube is coated with phosphor which casts visible light when the bulb is turned on. The composition of the phosphor determines the color temperature of the bulb, whether it be Soft White or Daylight.
Our CFLs operate on about 25% of the energy of standard incandescent but offer equivalent ilght output.
